late 1990’s. amtrack. sunset limited, westbound. i was shooting a spec assignment for amtrack, on the line that used to run from the east coast to the west, via the gulf coast, called the sunset limited. shooting in b/w film, i had a freedom that was nice. basically covering the train, passengers, and scenery along the run. they didn’t furnish me with a sleeper, so i made one myself, in the baggage car, i would build the suitcases to hide me at nite and stretch out and sleep to the rocking rail. this particular set of images was my answer, creatively, to shooting panos, with a twist. is 2 always better than 1?
