arizona. 2011. san xavier mission. stopped at this mission after seeing it from the road. (quite an impressive site from afar, rising out of the desert). i did a brief walk around the actual mission and then slowly made my way to the interior. i say slowly, because the fixtures were so impressive. the handles were hand cast rattlesnakes, hinges hammered metal in various forms of desert life. and then the hat appeared as i walked in the door. i don’t know how long it had been there nor whom it belonged to, but there it was, waiting. it’s far more beautiful in black and white than in color, although the muted colors in the interior were soft and glowing, the b/w says something. check your hat at the door.
